Getting the size right is one of the trickiest things about buying clothes for young children, and labelling clothes with the appropriate sizes is one of the trickiest things about making and selling children’s clothes. The most common convention is to label them according to age, but of course children of pre-school age grow quickly and at very different rates, so this can only ever be a very approximate measure. Some companies use length/height measurements instead or as well, but this isn’t so helpful if you’re buying as a gift and don’t have the child’s measurements to hand (or suspect they might have changed quite a bit!).
The good news is we design our clothes to be as forgiving as possible of variations in size, in order for them to last as long as possible. Our jinbei tops in particular can usually be worn comfortably by the same child for a long period, often for a couple of years, and will look still good, and our shorts and trousers have elasticated waists and plenty of give in the fabric, which makes getting an exact fit much less crucial.
Having said that, we do our best to label our sizes as accurately as possible. We use the same sizing conventions as UK high street shops, such as Next and Marks & Spencer. Which hopefully means they’ll be familiar to UK customers, but if you’re ordering from Asia or the US you might find them slightly different to what you’re used to. Below is a guide showing the approximate height/length measurements corresponding to our age-based sizes:
3-6 months = 62-68 cm
6-12 months = 68-80 cm
12-18 months = 80-86 cm
1-2 years = 80-92 cm
2-3 years = 92-98 cm
3-4 years = 98-104 cm
If you do order the wrong size, we are happy to accept returns as long as the item still has it’s tags intact and is in re-sellable condition. We can also usually offer a replacement, although please be aware that since many of our fabrics can only be sourced in limited quantities it may not always be possible to offer a different size in the same fabric. We’ll always do our best to find you something satisfactory as a replacement, and if that isn’t possible we’ll refund your purchase.
